Itinerary:
Thursday, May 3, 2012 10:00 am (or when you arrive, if you wish to participate)
This is a work day for administrative volunteers, board members, and anyone who wants to be involved in policy and protocol. Our organization has an "open door" policy, so if you want to join us, you are welcome. We will work on contract and protocol issues, fundraising concerns, application processing, etc. We'll break for lunch, and then go out as a group for dinner.
Friday, May 4, 2012 9:00 am
Educational seminars all day, including fostering 101, medical care, housetraining, preparing your foster for adoption and transport, allergies and diet, anal glands, working with puppymill rescues, NILIF, and anything else you would like to discuss. Lisa Masse will train us in canine CPR, and Joanne Reider will share her grooming skills. We have meals catered in, and dinner is an award dinner, followed by Bingo, with our own JoAnn Orlando. Of course there's lots of conversation, and meeting of minds.
Saturday, May 5, 2012 9:30 am.
Norma Brizzi will provide us with agility demos and put her babies, and ours, through an agility course. Norma is a rescue mom and friend, and she joins us every year with her 2 maltese mix rescues, who are agility pups. We'll then break up into small discussion groups, and learn about clicker training, ttouch massage therapy, animal communications, health issues and geriatric medical care; using internet resources, local events and media to promote rescue and your foster pup, etc.
Saturday night is the highlight of the weekend - our Fundraising Dinner and Auction. This year we're planning a Furbaby Beauty Pageant -- we'll tell you more later. :)
The auction is always great fun. We've been collecting items, and invite you to contribute things, too. Every penny raised goes to the pups. Mike, last year's auctioneer, will be back this year.
So, that's it.. a long, busy and productive weekend. Well behaved, or well dressed (belly bands and prissy pants) small dogs are welcome, and may attend everything. The food is great, and it's wonderful to meet the people we email with and work with to save the babies.
STFBR would like to thank our sponsors and donors for this year's Tzu-Union!
